Hi Jason,
Thanks for the review. I did not have idea that there are so many different kinds of blocks for kids. Definitely, my favorites are the SCHYLLING ABC due to the fact that I have a 2-year-old boy, and I want him learning the ABC as soon as possible, and I guess he is ready for them. I’ll check on them.
Thanks again.
Glad you like the SCHYLLING ABC – it’s really one of my favorite on the list!
Thanks so much for checking these out.
Hi Jason. What a cute selection of wooden blocks for kids. The first one reminds me of the blocks my kids had when they were little. I really liked the ones that fit together like lego blocks. I think they might be nice for my great granddaughter; but I’m not sure she is old enough at just a little over a year old. Do you think boys enjoy blocks more than girls or pretty much equal?
Jeannie
Hey, Jeannie, I’m happy that you like these top selections! It’s always nice to have good quality blocks around for our kids and grandkids to play with.
The ones that fit together like Lego blocks (NOVA) are quite cute, however, it’s suggested for kids who are 3 years or older.
The TEGU 42P-TNT-306T would be the best bet for your granddaughter. It’s recommended for kids 1year old and up.
I think both boys and girls enjoy playing with blocks. Both my kids (boy and a girl) loves playing with them. Although my son seems to love them more (maybe because he is just almost a year old) 🙂
Thanks for stopping by and all the best for you and your family.
I grew up in the 80’s and spent most of my time with wooden toys. Rocking chair, dolls, mobiles – they were all made from wood and even handcrafted by my dad.
You don’t see those things around in the stores anymore these days so I am glad you’ve short listed some good ones for us. I am particularly interested in the Nova interlocking blocks because of the fun Lego element in it.
However, I can’t really tell the actual size of this product through the image. How big is it exactly in comparison to a child’s height? Thanks.
I really enjoyed this review article comparing several different sets of building blocks for kids. Ithink most people have had a set of building blocks as a child, I did!
I really like the Hape set, I think there is a lot there to feed a child’s imagination and I also like the ones that link together to make bigger structures.
We have four little boys and they run through toys all year round. Me and my wife have been thinking about getting them some wooden blocks something durable and fun. I like what you have on this post. I might get the Melissa & Doug brand. But i will follow up and let you know what we decide on.
Sounds good, James. The Melissa & Doug is definitely one of our favorites. on the list.
These type of toys are long lasting and does provide a whole lot of fun for our kids.
Great article Jason! Wooden blocks seem to be a good learning tool for kids to get there creative minds going at a young age
Hey Jason! this article really brought back some really good childhood memories, your images were a perfect example in the fact that I remember having all those types of blocks. My granddad was a carpenter & maybe that’s why I had so many block, I think my parents were setting me up at a young age to follow in his footsteps! lol anyway I enjoyed reading this. your page & images are laid out nicely. Good Job!
Come to think of it, I don’t recall having any wooden blocks like these as a kid but I think these are great for children in keeping them occupied while also learning a bit.
There is quite a variety of different wooden blocks to choose from here but if I were to buy a pack of these I would either say the Hape Eo432 set for the amount of different colors and shapes or maybe the Schylling ABC blocks as I think those would be great for helping kids learn to read and spell.
My question is, which of these would you initially go for and which do you think are the best deal in terms of what you get with?
thanks for the information
Hey, my pleasure Rohit 🙂
